1. First and foremost, it’s a drag movie. It’s funny, colorful, witty on the outside but raw, painful, cringe-worthy on the inside. They we’re able to tell the real story while wrapping everything up in a sea of laughter.
2. Christian Babbles is indeed a revelation. Paglabas namin ng cinema, my friends asked if he’s gay and I said yes without batting an eye lash. I saw him kasi on another film/show where he also played gay. And in my head, there’s no way a real guy could pull off Barbs. I mean, may scene silang naka-panty for crying out loud! He was always wearing heels. And believe me, laki ako sa parlor ng tyahin ko, kasama ng mga baklang transdyosa. Ganun sila umarte. Kuhang kuha nya. So he deserves that award.
3. Paolo Ballesteros is wonderful. No. Scratch that. He’s brilliant. I know the man is talented. Witty. Funny. I am a huge fan of KalyeSerye. I know his brand of comedy. But HE IS BRILLIANT. No more no less. Every scene was heartfelt. Ramdam ko yung sakit. Yung kilig. Yung landi. Yung pagmamahal ng isang ina. Paolo is Trisha Echeverria on this film.
4. His make up transformations are genius. And a great representation of Trisha’s life. Isa syang malaking make up transformation.
5. This movie is hilarious. Very gay.
6. This movie is more than fun. Tatawa ka pero lalabas kang nasaktan. Lalabas kang mas mulat sa katotohanan. These realities are not new to me because I grew up with them. I grew up with a gay uncle. I grew up with his gay friends. Laki ako sa parlor. Lahat ito hindi bago sa akin. Matagal na kong mulat sa mundo ng BeauCon. Alam ko paano nila mina-masking tape ang mga dapat i-masking tape. But it’s so refreshing to see it on the big screen. Yung for the first time, natatawa ka sa bakla pero hindi mo mo sila pinagtatawanan.
7. Bakla ang bida dito. Oo! Bakla ang bida dito. At hindi sila pinagtatawanan lang. Dito, ramdam mo ang kabaklaan pero ramdam mo ang puso, ang respeto, ang buhay. This is every gay’s dream movie. Yes! And I’m crying right now, because the gay deserves this movie.
8. Galit sa ibon ang pelikulang ito. They are either suffocated or wanted to be removed. (Got that from Chico!)
9. This is in every aspect a tragicomedy.
10. Must watch. Definitely.

Last December 27, we all went back to SM Mall of Asia, this time to catch Feng Shui.

When I heard Kris Aquino mentioned on A&A that Feng Shui will be shown in 4D at the Mall of Asia, I immediately told my siblings that it’ll be our Christmas date. Every year, we all make it a point to watch MMFF movie/s together. Usually, I don’t like horror films coz I can’t watch it properly. Blood makes me giddy and squeamish, but since it’s 4D and I want to experience it with my siblings, GOOOOWWW!!! :)

First let’s talk about the movie, or the parts that I actually watched (I am hiding behind my hair and my hands like 3/4 of the film so I went out with crazy bruha hair).

I think Kris Aquino is actually good with horror. I watched the first Feng Shui 10yrs ago with my high school bestfriend, Marie, and I remember being soooo scared. Gaga kasi! Nanood ng last full show at first time kong mag last full show nun. Kaloka! Anyway, where am I? Ayun! Kris is actually good with horror. Her serious, scared face is perfect. While Coco’s acting is undeniably superb. But the one who stands out for me, acting-wise, is Carmi Martin! She is funny, she is crazy, and her drunk scenes are perfect. Her words are slurry and she really looks like an alcoholic. Mata palang nila ni Coco Martin perfect na!

However, this Feng Shui is very far from the first Feng Shui. That first one, hindi ako nakatulog kay Lotus Feet. I swear! And napaliguan ko ng popcorn yung katabi ko sa sobrang gulat. To think nakatago din ako sa likod ng friend ko nun ah. So 1/4 lang din yung matino kong napanood. This one, I am okay na after the film. Walang after-effect like the first Feng Shui. Walang kilabot. Probably because they aimed to make it PG, to earn more on the box-office. Keri na din coz its a Christmas season film. Ganun talaga. Producers have to earn.

Plus I also find the death scenes corny. My friend is right. Hindi okay ang death scenes. Although they imitate the scariest scene on the first Feng Shui where Lotlot saw herself dead on the hands of Lotus Feet. Pero waley. Not really super scary. At ang kapal ng fez ko maghanap pa ng scary no?! Nyahahaha! Sige na nga, mas okay na tong 2nd Feng Shui at least walang after effects.

But watching it on the 4D cinema is our best decision. Since it’s not too scary, watching it on 4D made the experience more memorable. Chairs are moving, there’s wind, there’s light effects and water effects – SUPERB! Mas nakakatakot sya because it’s on 4D. So may gulat factor yung pag alog ng upuan. Hihihi!

4D is also not super expensive, it’s just Php 350. Although it’s just an introductory price pero keri na. :) What I didn’t like though is the fact that it’s not available online! Naku SM Cinema!! Make it avail online please!! We went there on the 26th only to find out that it was sold out for the entire day. So we bought tickets for the next day instead and just watched Bonifacio, a good option actually.

So yeah! All in all it was still fun. :) It’s a good movie and a perfect 4D experience. I hope to catch another 4D film soon. :)

We went to SM Mall of Asia earlier today to watch Feng Shui in XD 4D cinema only to find out it was sold out for the entire day. Hanep! Akala ko ba naghihirap na ang Pinas?! Hehehe!

So all of us decided to just catch another MMFF entry on our list – Bonifacio, Ang Unang Pangulo. So this year’s first MMFF entry is another Robin Padilla film. Last year, I only got to watch 10,000 Hours and Boy Golden. I hope this year mas madami ang mapanood ko.

So how’s the movie? It was AWESOME!!

I love the quality of the film. It is very obvious that it was meticulously created by the best film makers. The cinematography is superb. The color transition of the past and present scenes are perfectly done. Tamang tama ang timpla ng kulay sa screen. We watched on SM Mall of Asia’s digital theater making our viewing experience so much better. In fairness to SM, they know talaga which movies to put on which theater. They are already aware that the Pinoy movie goers are so much smart now. They want great movie experience. Nothing less.

The storyline is wonderfully executed. Medyo nabitin lang ako sa scenes ni Daniel Padilla, crush ko kasi! Hihihi!

It’s a tear jerker, an eye opener and a gentle reminder for us Filipinos on how we’ve been repeating histories over and over. Sabi nga ni Rizal on this movie, “kelangan maging malaya tayo sa isip at sa puso”.

Bonifacio is not my favorite hero. I never believed that violence would bring freedom. I never believed that violence is the answer to anything. No matter how hard life is. But I believed that Bonifacio is a great man. And that we Filipino’s did him a major treachery by killing him, by even thinking that he is not an honorable man, that he is guilty of treason. Same mistakes we do over and over again. And it is very much captured on this film.

I love that it made me remember my History classes. Of how much I know and how much I still want to know. I always thought, as a kid, that history is a waste of time. Because I am not good with remembering names and special events. Heck! I am not good with memorization at all. I love Mathematics, hands down. But now that our film makers are creating movies like this, it made me realize how important history is. That we are bound to learn something from history so we won’t commit the same mistakes over and over again. I hope the movie goers would see what this movie is all about. Kaya pala si Robin Padilla ganun ang mga litanya sa IG. Totoo nga! This movie is supposed to be an eye opener. :) Bonus nalang ang katotohanang, sobrang ganda ng pagkakagawa nya! :) At ang pogi ni Daniel at Robin!

I haven’t watched the others, but based on my initial assessment (naks! akala mo authority sa Filipino film industry) – this is a major contender for that Best Picture trophy. I love that Robin Padilla is now gearing on creating high quality films. That it’s not all about suntukan and barilan now. Kailangan mo ng mag-isip. And that’s why I love MMFF films. They offer different flavors.

This movie is super highly recommended for those na trip magpaka movie critic. Just don’t expect heavy action ha. It’s not Bad Boy Robin Padilla anymore.

Another MMFF film review here. :) And another action movie. Sorry guys, I actually have BOYfriend now and apparently, the rumors are true, boys really prefers action films. Hahahahaha!

But in all honesty, I love the fact that I was able to catch the much sensible films first. Of course, the beauty of MMFF movies are the variety of films they offer. They got comedy for the kids and the entire family, some horror usually, action films and those award-winning films that would bring out the film critic in you.

10000 Hours is one of those film. They won, like 15 awards last MMFF Awards Night and I must say that this film really deserved it. It has that Hollywood Film vibe in it. And being an avid movie goer, of both local and foreign films, I could honestly say that this one is top-notch.

The story-line is superb. Sabi sa inyo mala-Hollywood film. Tipong Bourne Identity levels. Parang ganun. It really does have a strong storyline that was wonderfully executed. Galing ni Bb. Joyce Bernal. And I heard this film has an all-women off-screen team. They truly deserve those awards.

Nice cinematography as well. Hindi mukhang tinipid. Hindi mukhang cheap. Clear shots, nice camera angles, pulidong pulido. Even the running scenes, though parang they made it a bit shaky (para mukhang tumatakbo din yung camera) doesn’t make me dizzy. Yung ibang movies kasi ganun diba? Parang, OMG! Sana nag-tripod nalang kayo!!! Hahahaha…

Now let’s talk about the actors – Robin Padilla truly deserves the Best Actor trophy. Galing! Ang layo sa “Bad Boy” Robin na kinasanayan ko. That Robin antics na laging ginagaya ng jowa ko (sa kasamaang palad). He was able to portray a role so far from his forte. Imagine? Senador na may angas. Grabe lang! And not to mention, ang gwapo-gwapo nya padin!!!! Ansaveh ni Daniel Padilla teh?! Parang di tumatanda. Di ko kinaya.

The other actors are also great. Of course, Michael De Mesa, Mylene Dizon and Pen Medina did a fantastic job. Eh kaya lang given na yun sa kanila. Magagaling talaga silang aktor eh. Expected na. But I loved Carla Humphries here. May talent si ate! At ang red lipstick na bongga, bagay na bagay. I must also commend Ketchup’s funny antics. Well, expected na din naman yun sa kanya. Sana lang mas binigyan sya ng mas madaming eksena. Para medyo nakakatawa. Kaya lang I guess too much of Ketchup would kinda ruin the “vibe” of 10000 Hours na medyo seryoso at parang laging may oras na hinahabol.

But nasayangan ako sa role ni Bella Padilla. I guess somebody else (maybe a bit older?) would be perfect for the role. Medyo kulang pa sa bigas si Bella. Konting hasa pa siguro. Sayang coz she got one of the main roles. Pero okay na din, kasi jowa nya ang producer so I guess kelangan talaga andun sya. Hihihihi… #chismis

This film truly deserves your time and effort. Sayang naman if you won’t watch it. Specially now that the Pork Barrel Scam is kinda nakakalimutan na naman ng mga Pilipino. Hey guys!! Wag natin kalimutan. Mag-tweet, mag-status sa Facebook. Paramdam sa gobyerno na hindi tayo nakakalimot.

Go ahead and watch it. Great film.

It’s MMFF time once again. :) You know, I really try to watch as much MMFF movies as I can every year. Ang saya lang kasi to compare the different films and the different genres they offer.

This year, my Christmas Day film is none other than Boy Golden: Shoot To Kill. Eh paano ba naman kasama ko dalawang golden boys – my brother Ian and The Companion. So our options are either 10,000 hrs or Boy Golden. But after watching the trailer, they opted for the latter.

So how was it?!

It was really awesome!!!!

I’m not a fan of KC Concepcion but she’s extremely good in this film!! Her action scenes are just wonderfully executed and I never thought KC could actually pull it off but she delivered with flying colors. And she’s really very pretty in this film. Those sexy red lips she’s rocking on the entire film just made her extremely sultry. At ang sexy nya. Cleavage all over. After the film, sabi ni Companion, crush na daw nya si KC kasi ang laki ng boobs at ang galing sa action. Walanjo!

But anyway, with or without the cleavage, I think KC is a very strong contender for that Best Actress trophy. I think she shines in this film. Galing talaga!

Aside from KC Concepcion’s stunning performance, the rest of the casts are just superb. John Estrada, Eddie Garcia, Gloria Sevilla – all deserves a standing ovation. Of course ER Ejercito is a a great actor. Probably because the roles he portrays just suits him well. Alam mo yung astig na parang may sapak?! Ganun!! Bagay sa kanya. But in this film, every character, parang lahat may sapak. Kaya ang galing lang. You really need to be great actor to deliver such.

The storyline is also great. I think it was well directed. Unlike El Presidente na parang may off scenes, here everything is just right. And they incorporated just the right amount of comedy. Comedy na nakakapraning. Bagay na bagay sa “Buhay Gangster” which is the main theme of the movie.

One thing I didn’t like though is the way they “edited” ER Ejercito’s face. Alam mo yung parang na airbrush yung mukha nya in their lame attempt to make him look younger? Ganun eh! Ang off! Di ko feel. Hahahaha!

But all in all it was superb. No wonder it was Graded A. They deserve it.

So if you wanna catch an MMFF film with the boyfriend or some boy friends, this is a great choice. You’d surely enjoy it!

Spent the New Year at the cinema with my sissy and our kid friend. :)

Ever since I heard of El Presidente and how epic this movie is, am waaaaay beyond excited to watch it. It’s a star studded film and is obviously well funded. I love seeing films like this. Tipong hindi ka manghihinayang sa Php200 mo dahil mukhang milyones naman ang ginastos.

I am never an Aguinaldo fan nor a Bonifacio fan. I still think that them fighting over the title as President is the worst thing that happened to our country aside from GMA. Hahahaha! Kidding!

Anyway, on to the film now. I love the cinematography. The effects. The costume. The make up is superb!! The story is actually good but it gets kinda boring on the latter part. Well, I think since Aguinaldo died at 90+ that’s something to be expected. Malamang puro kwento nalang yung huli diba kasi hindi na sya pwedeng makipagbarilan tsaka tapos na ang gyera nung mga time na yun.

Baron Geisler is superb in this film!!! And also John Regala. Though Cesar Montano did a great job, I still think that he didn’t deserve the award. :’( Baron or John Regala would be perfect (kaso maikli lang role nila eh).

Felix Rocco on the other hand is a revelation in this film! He played the role of Gregorio Del Pilar (my other hero crush eversince Romnick Sarmienta played the role on an old film). He is so gwapo and he did a great job. Impernesssss! Anak nga sya ni Bembol, ang galing din nya!!

Nora Aunor is still superb! Iba talaga ang level ni Ate Guy. Nakakaloka!

All in all I enjoyed the film. I may not say that this is the best of all the MMFF entries  that I’ve seen so far. One More Try is really good actually but they are so different! Both are great. Both deserve to win. Naks! Kala mo naman may value ang opinion ko. Hihihi…

3rd MMFF movie! :) I still have 3 more on my bucket list. Though I am thinking of watching Shake, Rattle and Roll because I think Carlo Aquino is on it (confirm nyo naman for me).

Watched this movie with my brother and a young cousin. Its my yearly treat for the brother. He’d usually choose an MMFF movie we’d watch and this year its Sisterakas.

How was it?! It was hilarious!! As in super funny. Of course we all know how good Vice Ganda is. Add Aiai Delas Alas and Kris Aquino to the roster and it sure is a big hit! No wonder its top grossing. Its great to see Kris on a comedy film. Atleast hindi horror sabi nga ni Ate Ballsy. @_@

Honestly. Kris is a good comedian. She really is. Most of the time mas natatawa pa ko sa kanya kesa kina Aiai. Coz her portrayal is more genuine. Parang wala syang balak magpatawa pero nakakatawa sya or pilit na pilit syang magpatawa kaya nakakatawa. Oh well!

The two kids I’m with are laughing their pants off. Ibang level! I don’t think I need to tell you guys to watch it coz I know you’d do. Just support Filipino films please.

So far, out of the three movies – the award worthy is really One More Try. I wanna watch Thy Womb and El Presidente first to check if One More Try is really better. Though I don’t understand why Wilma Doesnt won Best Supporting Actress. I mean come on! Wala nga syang sinabi sa movie. :( Wala ding ka-award award na peg! Kalowka!! :’(

And oh! Allow me to add one more thing – ANG GWAPO NI DANIEL PADILLA!!!!! Lintek na bata yun. Super gwapo! Kinilig ako na parang 12yrs old! Hahahahaha

My second MMFF movie! :) Told you I plan to watch as many as I can.

My college bestfriends and some plus plus decided to have our get together at Robinson’s Ermita. We did bowling (they did bowling actually, I took pictures and had my outfit shots) and then coffee and then of course the movie.

I was begging them to watch Thy Womb with me but they all refused. Grabe naman! Noranian kaya kami, they totally forgot na. Hahahaha.. Jerellt wants a funny movie so our only option is Enteng or Sisterakas. Told them I can’t watch Sisterakas because I am scheduled to watch it with my siblings. Di ako pwedeng umulit. Nagtitipid nga ako eh.

So we ended up watching Enteng. All of us adores Ryzza anyway.

So how’s the movie you ask? It was of course FUN! Galing galing ni Ryzza. She is the cutest thing ever! And very funny. That kid is a child wonder I’m telling you. I’m just sad she didn’t do the cha-cha. Nag-expect pa naman kami ni Joie. @_@

Vic Sotto’s charm and funny antics are just epic. His comedic style is very predictable already but I still find it funny. Sabi nga ni Jerellt, yung dapa scene nya sobrang luma na, ini-expect mo na nga pero matatawa ka padin! He is such a charmer.

The movie is fun. Don’t expect wonderful story plot or exceptional cinematography of course because you’ll be disappointed. But if you want a good laugh, this one is really for you. Because all of us are really laughing our pants out the entire time we are watching. Or maybe mababaw lang talaga ang kaligayahan namin? But who cares? We must learn to laugh everything out. Hindi ka Pinoy kung hindi mababaw ang kaligayahan mo!

Go people! Watch it! Suportahan ang lahat ng MMFF movies.

And oh! Baka naman may gustong manood ng Thy Womb dyan before they pull it out of the cinema. Please baby please! Thank you!

Every year, I make it a point to really watch as much MMFF movies as possible. This year, I spent my Christmas day at the cinema and watched the first MMFF movie on my bucket list – One More Try.

Honestly, this is something new. I haven’t watched a film that actually tackles this kind of story. It’s just new and raw and well, it’ll make you think – it might be possible.

I actually love the plot of the film. As I’ve said, it is quite unique. But it was shown on a very artistic way.

It is a story of 5 people actually. 4 adults and a child. Angel and Dingdong had an affair 6 yrs ago when Dingdong and Angelica are just BF-GF’s. Their relationship were almost ruined but they were able to overcome the problem and eventually got married. However, Angel and Dingdong had a child. Something that Dingdnong didn’t know. And now after 6 yrs, Angel come back and asks for Dingdong’s help because her son is sick.

The kid needs a bone marrow transplant to cure his leukemia. Dingdong is not a match though. Another option is for Angel and Dingdong to have another kid. Problem is Angelica is the wife and Zanjo is the boyfriend.

It was twisted really! Angelica didn’t want her husband to bed Angel. Thinking of that time when Angel almost stole his love from her. Plus the fact that she wasn’t able to bear a child for a Dingdong. Zanjo is very understanding at first but eventually became too jealous to handle everything. Dingdong loves Angelica but loves his son as well. Take note that it is his ONLY son. Of course, Angel is a mother. And we all know that a mother would do everything on her power to make her son live. Sabi nga sya, wala ng moral at wala ng tama.

Everyone is a victim of the circumstances. Everyone acts on what they think is right. Sometimes, we’d maybe say it’ll be easier to allow Dingdong and Angel “do it” to solve the problem but sometimes, you’re just too afraid that it’ll create more problems. Kung ako si Angelica, makikipagpatayan ako kay Angel wag nya lang mahawakan ang asawa ko. Kung ako si Zanjo hindi ako papayag na hawakan ng ibang lalaki ang babaeng mahal ko. Kung ako si Dingdong, gagawin ko ang lahat madugtungan lang ang buhay ng anak ko. Ay pwede din palang I’d do everything to protect my wife. Ay! I don’t know really! If I were Angel, I’d do everything to make my son live. Ay! Maybe I’d just do it with Zanjo and pray that the half brother would be a match.

Now that I think about it, it is so hard! Oh well! Sometimes, you don’t know if you are doing the right thing or not. Ano nga ba ang tama? Who defines what’s right and not? I don’t know honestly!

Anyway, you just have to watch it to see how it just transpired. See how everyone reacts on the situation. And I know you’d agree with me that all of them had the best intention on their hearts. I loved the ending of the story as much as I loved the Mistress. Because The Mistress is so twisted and is so wrong I loved that it didn’t had the happy ending that we all wish. However, I am so glad that this film ended happy. Everybody happy actually! Because all of them deserve that happy ending.

What a way to start my MMFF marathon. Will try to catch as many as I can. Maybe all eight. :)

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you had a great Christmas. I spent mine with family and I am so happy. It may not be perfect and complete, but I am happy nonetheless.
