On the last week of January, one of our big boss from the US paid us a visit. And you all know what that means. It means lunch out and dinner out and weekend getaways. We want her to try the best restaurants in the metro.

We have been hearing a lot of positive feedback about Relish at Ponte in Salcedo Village. And the fact that it’s one kembot away from our office is a big plus. And so off we go.

Relish at Ponte is a small restaurant situated at the heart of Makati. It has very limited seating capacity and they are always jam-packed so better come early. They have really nice interiors and lighting. The decors are minimal but elegant. The place is a bit cramped for me but I guess they have to make do with the small space.

I had their famous sisig and herb butter rice. Kiber sa cholesterol. And honestly, it’s super worth it. The sisig are crunchy and very tasty. I love that it has that creamy taste on a sisig that I really like. I swear I could eat more rice kaso nahiya naman ako sa boss ko.This one is a must try.

Oo na! Judge me! I paired my sisig with a chocolate milkshake. So sue me. But I just can’t resist. I saw the other table ordered this milkshake and I hear them calling my name so I got one. Again, super worth the calories and the future fat.

The milkshake is rich and creamy. Not too sweet but enough to satisfy a sweet-tooth like me. This is comfort food at it’s finest!

After our sumptuous meal, we had 2 slices of cake for dessert. I actually love them both. The Peanut Banoffee is a great combination of peanut butter and banana. It really leaves that wonderful feeling that only desserts could give.

I am nuts for cheesecake and the cookie dough cheesecake didn’t disappoint at all. Rich. Creamy. With just the right pungent taste of cheesecake. I went to heaven after my first bite.

I would definitely go back and bring the ReigningTatay. He would love the sisig for sure. And while I’ll try the salmon next time. My officemate said it’s delish.

ArroZeria in Century City Mall has been making buzz in foodie haven lately. Serving authentic Spanish cuisine, where rice is definitely a must-have – no wonder everybody wanna try them.

Their awesome industrial interiors and open kitchen surely gave that homey vibe. I love that they have wide windows that allow natural light. I wasn’t able to take a photo but their lightings are so cute. Taking foodstagrams are so much better here.

I love this corner nook. That beautiful, what is it? Chandelier? Piece of artwork? Centerpiece? Whatever! I just love it.

Here are some of the dishes we tried and my thoughts on each. Let’s do photoblogging now.

This appetizer is a sure hit to everyone. It has campagne, cochinillo & mushrooms, chicken pistachio & seafood terrine; with black olive, parsley and porcini mashroom mayonnaise dips. My favorite is definitely the chicken pistachio with black olive dip. Yum! But everything else are all yummy as well.

This is another personal favorite. Beef and pork meatballs with button mushroom sauce and potatoes. Every bite is pure delight!

Deep fried angus ox lounge coated in bechamel with tartar sauce dip. Sounds heaven! When we saw this, we really wanna try it out immediately. Such a unique dish (at least for me). I just find it a bit bland though. The tartar sauce doesn’t seem to compliment the lengua. I can’t really pinpoint what’s missing. But yeah, I find it a bit bland. Maybe some cheese would do the trick? Or a more salty dip?

This is rice with egg crust  topped with chorizo and shrimp. I love this dish. Specifically the part with lotsa eggs. The chorizo is nice contrast to the egg crust and the shrimp is just divine.

I am not a big fan of beetroot. Though the green asparagus is love, I could till taste that beetroot aftertaste so I am not a fan of this dish. My fellow foodies find it yummers though.

And of course the stars of the show – PAELLA! You could have it al dente and thin or soft and wet. I think I love my Paella al dente but not too dry. Hahaha! Weird. I find this bland too but apparently, this is the authentic Spanish-style cooking. My taste buds are not Spanish-ready, me thinks. But the generous serving and toppings are worth every penny.

Oh my goodness. I think I found the best Singaporean restaurant in the metro – Ming Kee Live Seafood Restaurant. They serve the freshest and yummiest seafood and Singaporean dishes. I am a fan!

Located at the heart of Makati, this newly opened restaurant is slowly gaining popularity because the foodies are raving for it. You can spot it along Makati Ave., near J.P Rizal. It’s kinda difficult to see I because it’s right beside the construction area. But once inside, you will be greeted by a very nice restaurant interior with industrial feel.

But the main reason why I love this place is their food. So, shall we discuss them now?

This is what I call “sosyal na chicharon”. And probably a healthier version. This deep fried fish skins tastes so much like our beloved chicharon only so much better. And the dip has this perfect blend of sweetness and saltiness and a little bit sour. The moment I had my first bite, I can’t stop munching on it. This crispy fish skins are love at first bite.

This sweet BBQ pork is a little bit sweet. The pork are tender and juicy. Though not really a crowd favorite, this one still stands out.

OMG! This is definitely the best cereal prawns ever. I swear! The prawns are cooked to perfection – soft and juicy. The cereals are delicious. They taste familiar but me and my foodie friends can’t seem to place it. We asked the chef what cereal they used but they don’t to divulge. Hahahaha! The prawns used are fresh and the ingredients all top notch. You could really taste the huge difference. Make sure you order this if you ever drop by.

Okay, when I first heard that this one has crab in it and bee hon, I was like – what? But we were told that this one is a crowd favorite, not just here in Manila but also in Singapore. And we now know why. This is another favorite! Definitely a must try. I love the texture of the food and the way the taste seemed to dance on my palate. The crab, are again, so fresh and so huge. We we’re told that they still have bigger ones (oh my!). I really love crabs in general. I love it buttered. So this is such a refreshing twist to my all-time favorite dish. Highly recommended.

When I first had a bite, I almost choked. Too spicy!!! Well, for me. Though the manager said that it’s actually a milder version of it. The ones they serve in SG are much more spicy. Oh gosh! I am very sure my bestfriend and the ReigningTatay would love this one. Actually, minus the spiciness, it is such a yummy treat. The sauce are a bit sweet and the crab meats are very juicy and tender. Gosh!

This is another favorite. Definitely the best beancurd ever. The soft, melts-in-your-mouth beancurd and the fresh, crunchy veggies are just a match made in heaven. I can’t stop munching on it. I could this one all my life. That’s how yummy it is.

This man tou is the perfectly paired with the chili crab. To help ease the heat. I usually stay away from man tou because all of the ones I tried before are really oily. Not nice at all. But this one is different. The dough is perfect. Not oily. And I love it dipped in condensed milk. Ugh! Such a yummy treat.

This is the perfect match for all the crabs and the prawns above. I love that this fried rice compliments the dishes and is not overpowering.

For desert, we had fruit fantasy. It’s just a combination of fruits, ice and milk. Perfect to cap off the yummy meal we just had.

We also tried some of their mock tails. I had the one above – with cucumber, lemon and soda. Sooooo refreshing. I love it.

Ming Kee also has a space for private functions. Just give them a call and ask. :)

Rainy days are coming, and the best way to warm up is definitely with a cup of steaming hot coffee. And so I wanna share with y’all my recent discovery. It’s this quaint coffee shop who just made my coffee experience a notch better and made my coffee a little hotter by adding a shot of liquor on it. Yep! Tipsy Beans’ Tipsy Line offers coffee and dishes with a shot of liquor, making it extra special and unique.

It’s a little coffee shop along Jupiter, Makati. They have a few tables inside and is very homey. My blogger friends says that it’s perfect if you want a change of scenery so you could write properly. And I have to agree. I could definitely see myself lugging my laptop, putting on my ear phones and typing away while enjoying a cup of coffee. #dreambloggerlife

Their basic coffee brew is a blend of 3 coffee beans – Arabica, Robusta and Barako. I asked for a lighter version of these after hearing from my fellow foodie that it’s quite strong. Well, I love strong coffee but I’m afraid I won’t be able to handle this blend. And oh my! Matapang nga. And I had the mild version pa. But I love that it was strong but smooth.

Only fellow coffee lovers would understand what I’m trying to say here. But I really find their blend smooth. I love my coffee black with sugar and it was heaven. Every sip was pure happiness.

From their Tipsy Line, we tried their Irish Cream on Coffee Rocks. It’s their Irish coffee but served with coffee rocks or iced coffee. As in their ice cubes are made of coffee!! How cool. Add a shot of liquor to it and it was awesome. I was initially afraid of how it’ll taste. I can’t imagine liquor on my coffee but it was surprisingly good. Sabi ko nga, life in Tipsy Beans is never boring. There’s always that kick on everything you try.

A fellow foodie got really interested on their Vietnamese Coffee. It’s known for being a strong coffee and is perfectly matched with condensed milk. I don’t have the courage to try this one but my fellow foodie loved it. Hmmmm.. Maybe next time!

Again from their Tipsy Line, this Milo Chupacabra is a sure hit. This chocolate drink topped with milo and whipped cream is perfect for non-coffee drinkers but wants a little twist to their typical chocolate drink. Though they have a Sober version (no alcohol) of this which is Milo Godzilla (95php).

This drink may be a mouthful and we had a great laugh saying it over and over again. Hahaha! But this one is truly a refreshing drink. Also spiked with alcohol, this drink is refreshing but would surely warm you up. Sabi sa inyo bawal ang boring sa Tipsy Beans eh.

But my favorite is definitely their Bacon Milkshake!! Okay, I know everything with bacon is definitely a hit, but I never ever imagined drinking it. Wow!! This milkshake has bits of bacon on it and it was awesome! This one, thank God is under Sober Line, so no liquor. I could definitely drink this forever! Sarap!

Now let’s go to their sandwiches…

Their sandwiches are served on this wooden block lined with wax paper. It also comes with a few chips on the side.

Out of the 2 that I tried, I love the Cheesy Steak Bomb more because, well, cheese! It was melted to perfection and the meat is just juicy and added to much flavor to sandwich. Their Delectable Sisig Triangle is also something very unique and yummy. And I find that they are reasonably priced too.

The owner says that they make their own cheese. And I must say that this made this dish especial and unique. You just really have to try it to know what I’m talking about.

Would you believe that they also pasta on their Tipsy Line? Yep! Liquor on pasta! Whoah. I just wish it had more sausage on it but this is definitely worth a try if you love creamy pasta.

I am not really a pesto girl but I surprisingly love this dish! It’s obvious that they use quality tuna and they are generous on their pesto sauce but not overpowering. The pasta was cooked al dente and there’s a fair ratio of tuna and pasta. Love it so much! This one is Sober though. So no kick of alcohol.

I wasn’t able to try this dish but my fellow foodies say it’s yummy. Well, at least I’ll have something to look forward to when I come back.

Tipsy Beans is really something worth trying out. Reasonably priced and yeah, not your typical coffee shop. If you happen to be on the area, go pay them a visit. Super worth it.
